No work, no play!

As said before, I am looking into masters and internships for the comming period :) [aka 2010-2011]

Masters

I have looked into masters in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. There are a lot of nice masters in, especially, the UK. The problem, however, is funding. College tuition fees are around 3000-5000 pounds! Which is a lot. Second problem, you have to have good grades and the grading system in the UK is very different from ours. So I have not quite figured out in which category I fit in the UK system... Ofcourse it will matter little, because if I really like the university or master I will ofcourse try getting in anywayz :p But it is always nice to know if you even stand a chance ;)
The kind of masters I looked at where: contemporary East Asian studies, International Relations and the subfields of both (so Japanese studies and Security Studies for example).

Internship

I found out that the ministry of foreign affairs has a lot of very good internships! One of those was with the United Nations permanent representation in Vienna... I adore that one, so I will definitly try to apply with that one :) I can also write to different embassy's in the world to try to get an internship there. The catch here is that you have to be a master student, or at least studying in the Netherlands. Since I will have my bachelor in January, I will have to enroll in my masters program in Groningen to even apply to this internship. My intention is not to finish this master, so I don't know if that is possible...

All in all, there are a lot of possibilities and I will try to explore them all and, if possible, try to apply to most of them :p

Wii

My father did not want to keep his wii, so I could buy it from him :D So I am very happy WHIIIEEE ;) I'll take a look if I can set the thing up tomorrow at my home ^__^

The end of the story is, I need money, so I have to save every penny (or euro :p) I can to make my dream of studying abroad come true :)

Second semester plans (or the lack of plans :p)

As you may or may not know, I will (if everything goes according to plan) have succeeded in passing my exams for my bachelor at the end of january next year (2010). Because I don't know what I want to do in the half year till september at which time I want to start with my master, I am trying to find out cool things to do! So far my options are:

- Start with a master in february (not much masters start in february though :()
- Go do an internship through AIESEC (they help you find one)
- Go do an internship with the ministry of foreign affairs (like for example on an embassy)
- Study abroad in Osaka, Japan, through an exchange project with the RUG
- Start with my own master IR in Groningen

The last option is not really an option, because I don't really want to do my masters degree in Groningen and especially not this one :p

After one of these options I want to start doing a master in september 2010. Preferably in the UK, I will go through some of the folders I have accumulated when I was at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht for the Master beurs. After I have these options, I will ofcourse keep you updated through my weblog :D I will probably apply to a few of them, to spread my chances :)

International Economics [frustration]

AAAAAAAAAAARGH... So much frustrating right now! My exam, International Economics, was graded and I saw my mark tonight, a 5,1... Which means I have to redo it the 19th of August... I so SUCK at this subject. If I just had two more multiple choice answers correct I would have passed this stupid stupid exam. I think in August it will be the fifth time I will take this exam... It is driving me MAD. *sighs* Which also means I have to freaking study in my holiday, AGAIN... So no, I'm not frustrated. I just would have liked a holiday without studying for once...

First driver's license lesson! [watch out :p]

Today I had my very first driver's license lesson! I was nervous as hell, but it went very well :D If I think back at the experience I have an adrenaline shot right away... Wow... I have never ever driven a car before and this was my very first time, awesome! I didn't totally suck at it, so that was a big plus too :p I didn't expect to be driving myself in actual traffic, so I was focused as hell not to hit anything serious XD I mean, after a practice of 10 minutes just steering I had to prevent the car banging into something like for example a person on a bicycle... Scary shit! XD Anywayz, looking forward to driving more! :D

Welcome back

Well... I kinda again did not do so much with this blog. Maybe I am just not a blogger deep down in my heart, but I want to give it another shot (my last one :p).... I have no clue if anyone is interested, but it is always handy to let people know what I am doing if I do not get the change to visit them as often as I would like to!

Today I start my second day at my work. I work as some sort of a travel agent for the public transport. Today we will continue with the training, which is nice, but sometimes complicated, because the software requires a lot of quick launce key kind of thingies XD [If I press F1 this and this happens, F2 something other, etcetera] The work itself will probably be lovely, answering the phone and giving information, but we do not start with this right away :(
The people I met at work appear to be very nice and the atmosphere is informal and warm :) All in all it looks like I found a nice part-time job to do besides studying and being chairman of the board of The Blue Toes (ballroom dancing).

The weather report sounded awful last night, so I am crossing my fingers that I do not get wet going to work! Afterwards I will have tea with a good friend of mine, already looking forward to it!

And ow yeah, I luuuuv my pink nails ;)
